📚 Book Condition – Very Good (VG-) for age

  • Cover: Decorative pictorial cloth binding shows moderate shelf wear with some scuffing and minor edge/corner rubbing. Gilt on spine is lightly dulled but still legible.

  • Spine: Slight darkening/toning; binding appears firm.

  • Interior: Pages are clean and complete with only mild age-toning. Marking of owners name on inside first blank page, very few small tears on a few pages. No other markings, highlighting or marks found in a general look through. There is a sticker on the very last printed page. See Photos.

  • Illustrations: Over 400 engravings and photographs are sharp and intact.

  • Extras: Includes publisher’s ads in the rear—an interesting period detail!

This is a solid and collectible early edition (1897), and while not a pristine copy, it presents very nicely for its age—ideal for display or historical reference.
