Disecto Arm Chopper (Classic Comedy “Arm Chopper” Illusion)

If you want a big reaction with a small footprint, Disecto is a proven winner. You introduce a strange-looking chopper, swing the blade out so everyone can see it’s solid, then demonstrate its bite by slicing a carrot/cucumber cleanly in half. 

Now comes the fun part: a volunteer places their wrist/hand through the large center opening while vegetables are placed through the smaller holes above and below. With plenty of comedy by-play (and a few “are you sure?” moments), you bring the blade down—the vegetables get chopped, and the volunteer’s hand comes out perfectly fine. Big applause… and your helper keeps their arm (always a plus).

Always a great audience pleaser! The sharp steel blde cuts a carrot slice in half, but leaves the volunteer's hand unharmed.

 

Basic Effect: This is a classic effect in Magic. Any lady from the audience is helped to the stage area to assist the magician. The magician, after having already demonstrated the incredible sharpness of the blade by having sliced through a carrot or other vegetable  etc., The lady is now invited to place her wrist through the centre of the prop, a carrot is placed going through the top and bottom holes immediately above and below the lady’s wrist. (Much by-play and funny lines can be aded to this routine as the comedy possibilities are endless here). Slowly the blade is depressed, chopping through the vegetables but not the lady’s wrist. The lady is unharmed and given a loud round of applause as she is escorted back to her seat.
